By Bostonia
I like this product. The cost of installing though, far exceeds the cost to buy the unit. Running the lines, and most importantly, making the penetration through the side of the house (especially hard if its a basement), will be a lot of work. Also don't forget an electrician will have to wire it.
Also, DEFINITELY get the accessory panasonic makes, the wall cap. It makes it much easier to terminate the installation.
Anyhow, I have two units, installed one in my basement, one upstairs. I have them running all the time on the lowest setting, 10CFM, and the house is constantly fresh.
Also it does a pretty good job of recovering heat in the winter, so the air blowing in is just a bit cooler than room temp, but not by much, considering it is below 40 degrees outside.
In the summer, the efficiency is a little reduced. So if its very hot, as in 90 degrees outside, and inside its 75, the air temp blowing in is still about 81-83 degrees. Still a better option than opening the window.

By Charles Loudermilk
I installed this ERV in my roughly 1200 sqft basement that had previously had dehumidifiers running around the clock.
The Basement is new construction with very dry soil composition and waterproofed "rubber"walls, however once the building envelope was closed, spray-foamed and sealed the Basement began to "sweat" or be a collection point for interior condensation.
The smell was unpleasant and the Dehumidifiers helped but used too much energy, made too much noise, and required my time to maintain.
I had always planned to put in an ERV but the basement wouldn't be part of the main system, so I gave panasonic a try.
Short story, installed in october here in NY and the moisture and odor are completely gone. The energy usage is minimal and the sound is non-existent.
The temperature isn't really affected which is a bonus.
If something changes midsummer with the added exterior humidity I shall bring report!
