Features
Leviton’s Evr-Green 160 home charging station is housed in a durable weatherproof, watertight, dust-tight, and corrosion-resistant enclosure made of NEMA type 4 powder-coated steel. The compact physical design of the charging station takes up a minimum amount of wall space—providing the greatest flexibility for mounting locations, be it in your garage or along your home’s exterior wall by the driveway.

The charging station incorporates multiple levels of safety for the user, the vehicle, and the charging equipment. Its simple one-button interface is extremely user-friendly, and upon plugging the car into the charging station, a self-test occurs that will ensure the unit is working properly. The integrated communication system verifies correct connections before charging can begin, and the auto-restart feature enables charging to restart following a minor fault—thereby reducing the chance of being stranded with a low state of batter charge. Status indicator LED lights alert you to the power, charging, and fault status, and the 18-foot charge connector cord length further extends the charger’s reach.

4Good for the DIY EV owner
By Tor Amundson
I bought this charger a week before Amazon made it available; I would have bought it here if it'd been out then.

This charger is cheaper than others because it's only 16A (thus the '160' model number). It works great for the Nissan Leaf due to the Leaf's relatively small 3.3kW onboard charger. If your EV draws >4kW (such as in the future, the Leaf may ship with a 6.6kW charger onboard) then this unit would not work. Still, if you're OK with that limitation it's an excellent unit which is why I gave it 4 stars.

Just as the video shows it's easy to install if you make sure to buy the mounting kit (which comes with a plate, socket and wallbox). Since I already had a 30a circuit for a welder that I no longer have (previously with an L6-30R socket on it) I simply rewired that plug with a stock NEMA 6-20R and went without the kit. Still, I wish I'd bought the kit just for the mounting plate. While you can still secure the charger to the wall without the plate - just use one hang-screw and one through the slot on the bottom - it's a heck of a lot easier with it. Hard-mounting without the plate makes it harder to take with you too if you plan on using it like an oversized portable EVSE.

Pros: Cheaper than most any other wall-mount EVSE at the moment. Smaller, too. The cable to the car is robust and feels like it will last. Crazy-easy to install. Due to the size/weight it's easy to move (again, better if you have the quick-mount plate kit) between sites if you need to.

Cons: The 6-20P plug-in is far too short in my opinion; it should have been 3-5ft long so you can reach lower existing plugs if you're not using their kit. The cable-hanger needs to be a little bigger with a better upwards lip to retain the cable. The blue/green coloring is pug-ugly and stands out like a sore thumb in the garage (this only matters if you have a 'showy' garage you like to show off, admittedly). There is no lock-hole on the J-plug to the car so if you run it to your driveway you can't lock-in like you can with the stock Nissan portable EVSE. But the biggest con is that it's only 16a. If in the future you get an EV that has >3.3kW charging you'll have to upgrade to a better EVSE than this.

My suggestion for the DIY'er: 1. Get the hardwired edition (when Amazon starts selling them) instead of the 6-20P plug version, and then make your own pigtails for it. Then use the uplink >20A circuit of your choice (I prefer L6-30Rs on my wall myself). 2. Buy the mounting kit and throw everything away except for mount plate. If Leviton ever starts selling the mount plate by itself, get just that. 3. Re-paint it so it doesn't look so ugly. :)

Two months charging my Leaf with it so far and absolutely no worries. Manual or car-timer, I've never had it fail to charge.

5Leviton EVB22-3PM Evr-Green 160 Home Charging Station, perfect for Chevy Volt
By DrMike
The Leviton EVB22-3PM Evr-Green 160 Home Charging Station is perfect for the Chevy Volt. A green LED lets you know the unit is receiving power, a yellow LED lights when you connect the J1772 plug to the car, and a red LED lights if there is any problem (I haven't seen that one yet). The 18-foot cord is more than long enough and easy to coil around the built-in cord-hook. I'm totally satisfied with this product, and especially with the fact this is the only Level 2 charger on the market (so far at least) that doesn't have to be permanently wired into your home. Just plug it into any standard 240V 20A outlet, like the one provided with the separately sold EVK02-M Evr-Green Installation Kit Leviton EVK02-M Evr-Green Installation Kit for Home Charging Station (EVB22 - 16A, 240V).

3Worked great! for a little over a month. : - (
By Jdub
I looks nice, installs easily and does what it is supposed to do, charge my EV. The hook that holds the charge cable is a bit weak and the cable is hard to hang. I wish this was designed better. Competitors let you plug the handle into the charger.
I have had this installed for a bit over a month and went to plug in the car a few days ago and it flashed Fault and then it stayed lit. Have tried everything, but car will not charge now, I have been using the plug-in trickle charger for now while I work on getting warranty service. Tested the car at the dealership so it IS the charger. Can't return it now because it has been 10 days past the 30 day return policy.
Will update with warranty experience.

12/27/2011 After reviewing my purchase I found that I had a 60 day return policy and processed a return. Amazon immediately drop shipped a replacement which arrived next day (the 23rd). I installed it and in worked perfect. Sending the old one back today.

Learned that when you plug the charger into the car the charger negotiates a voltage protocol between Charger and car. This negotiation worked fine for the first month but then you could actually hear when this negotiation through beeps and clicks would fail. So the Charger would go into a fault status and that was it. I hope this does not happen again and if it doesn't I will be happy with this product.
